Last Sunday morning, I set foot in arguably the biggest weekend market in Metro Manila — the SIDCOR Weekend Market at Centris Walk on the corner of EDSA and Quezon Avenue in Quezon City. Along with my fellow bloggers, we explored around 450 stalls (imagine that!) offering a vast array of products, from organic produce and local delicacies to fab clothing and cute pets. The scorching heat of the sun may had been annoying at times but we didn’t let it spoil our weekend market experience a bit.

PRESS RELEASE
SIDCOR’s Longest-running Sunday Market Moves to Eton Centris
The SIDCOR Lung Center market spells good buys in one great bazaar. A pioneer of flea market in Manila, the SIDCOR market is where shoppers and bazaaristas alike find hard-to-find veggies, local delicacies, organic treats, exotic seafood, adorable pets, and a myriad more delights. Now, this colorful Sunday scene moves from the Lung Center to the hippest dining and lifestyle destination in Quezon City, at Centris Walk.Located along major thoroughfares, at EDSA and Quezon Avenue, Centris Walk is the lifestyle component of Eton Centris, a 12-hectare township project of Eton Properties Philippines, Inc. Lining Centris Walk are 450 stalls comprising a wide array of products that give justice to the word bazaar. The SIDCOR Sunday market is open every 6 AM to 2PM at Centris Walk.
Rare Delights
Groceries and local markets have tilapia, bangus, and the usual seawater fish. At SIDCOR’s Sunday market, shoppers find a wide array of seafood from the common shrimp, blue crabs, and yellow fin tuna (tanigue) to the rare snails, sea centipedes, eel, black river snails, abalone, ulang (giant freshwater shrimp) and sea cucumber.
Delicacies from the North to the South can also be enjoyed here. One store sells Vigan’s famous Bagnet and Longanisa that are sure fire breakfast winners when dressed with sugarcane vinegar and black pepper. Laguna’s delectable white Carabao cheese is also sold in one stall, a perfect pandesal partner.
The best fruit and veggie buys in the Metro can also be found here. Enjoy Baguio picks like organic blueberries, organic lettuce, watercress, pigeon peas (kadyos), fiddlehead fern (pako), and a lot more. Organic products are also sold in some stalls. One sells gugo (Filipino shampoo derived from the coconut tree) and seaweed shampoo.
Cute fluffy puppies, croaking Kermit frogs, brightly-colored love birds, parrots, and more are sure to adore pet-loving shoppers. SIDCOR’s Sunday market at Centris Walk has everything from doggie treats, cat food, cute doggie backpacks, leashes, and other pet accessories.
Chic and Fab Finds
From cozy home decors to chic clothes at the tiangge, shoppers find a gallery of affordable goodies at the SIDCOR weekend bazaar. Moms enjoy the colorful pails, basin, dippers, and more plastic home utilities as well as matching mats, cup coasters, plates, and other ceramics. Fashion bazaaristas love the eccentric Asian accessories from Bangkok and Hong Kong like keychains, fans, carved wooden crafts, and batiks or tie-dye clothes. Also part in the mix are bags, shirts, sundresses, and even ethnic hand-woven dresses. Jetsetters and travelers find here an array of travel bags—from stroller bags, trunks, to hiker’s backpack.
Food Tripper’s Galore
After a morning of stall-hopping and hours of carrying a bag full of good buys, shoppers can re-fuel in the Sunday market’s stretch of foodie haven: a strip of street foods.
The reserved ones can have the staple barbecues and baked pastries. Health conscious buffs can try the sugar-free cookies in one of the stalls. Gourmet aficionados love the grilled squid and tuna belly along the line of best seller pica-picas. More adventurous foodies can have the deep-fried frog legs in egg and flour batter—crispy as fried chicken. Weekend shoppers can further enjoy the experience as gourmet restaurants are abound within Centris Walk, just steps away from the Sunday market. For leasing inquiries, please contact 09175131573 or visit www.eton.com.ph.
Since Centris Walk is located beside an MRT station at Centris Station, finding the rarest good to the best buy is a weekly experience at the SIDCOR Sunday market.
I wouldn’t mind going all the way to Centris Walk on a Sunday if only to get the freshest produce and the latest edible and shopping finds from this mother of all weekend markets. This one-stop shop for all unique and interesting items you could ever need for yourself, your loved ones and your home is sure to be a hit among weekend market lovers (me included).
I like that it’s along EDSA, has spacious parking (for wheeled customers), has numerous stalls and there’s a comprehensive list of products sold. Here are some of them:
fruit trees, bonsais and ornamental plants
Special thanks to Eton Properties for inviting me to the soft opening of SIDCOR Weekend Market. It has been a delightful experience for all of us.
